One of my more interesting photo assignments was to illustrate Michele Cooper's article for SKATING magazine on a family of skaters named Lutz. The challenge for me--the Lutzes lived on a farm.  With actual animals.

I must admit, aside from cats, I'm not normally comfortable around animals. Especially when they are bigger than me. How could I resist, however, when Brittany Lutz told me that her horse smiled on command.

After asking if her horse would attack if I used flash, I was assured he'd be fine.

And right on cue--picture perfect!
