Over the Thanksgiving weekend of 2000, my friend and colleague Allison Stack and I went to Lake Placid, New York to cover the debut of the 2000-2001 Stars on Ice tour for Spotlight on Skating magazine. We were invited to watch and photograph the dress rehearsal. Ally and I sat on ice, center ice. A few family and friends of the skaters were stage right of the tunnel, while we were the only ones stage left.
It's a shame Canadian Kurt Browning is so shy and reserved.
During his run through of "Don't Fence Me
In," Browning unabashedly played to my camera. It's nearly impossible to
describe what that experience is like.
This photo is one of my favorites from that number that night.
Canon Elan II body, Canon
80-200/2.8 lens, Fuji Press 800 film. Exposure unrecorded.
